About

The 2012 festival will be on Saturday, April 28th!

“One of the most unique, laid back festivals in the state, by far…kind of like a tiny, rural South by Southwest” – Emily Burnham, Bangor Daily News

The Belfast Free Range Music Festival is a grassroots, volunteer powered celebration of original music that takes place annually in downtown Belfast, Maine. Participating musicians travel from near and far, representing a wide range of genres and musical backgrounds, everything from rock to bluegrass, a capella vocal groups to hip hop. In its first two years, the festival has hosted 58 local, regional and nationally touring acts (roughly 175 individual musicians) in multiple venues including our local movie theater, Legion hall, arts center, galleries, and even a church sanctuary.  The 2012 festival (the event’s third year) will follow the same model, presenting an all-new lineup of musicians from multiple genres.

The 2012 coordinating crew: Meg Fournier, Dan Beckman, Bub Fournier, Kristen Burkholder, Nathan Raleigh and Janane Tripp.  Many thinks to our advising crew: Mike Hurley,  Annadeene Fowler,  Alan Crichton.

The 2010, 2011 and 2012 posters were designed by Eric Hou.  He’s awesome!

Special thanks to Our Town Belfast, Belfast Creative Coalition, Belfast Chamber of Commerce, and all of the organizations and individuals that have helped us along the way.  This event would not be possible without the support of our amazing community!
